We had so much fun photographing these two sweet hearts! Ella was such a good poser and had great ideas for pictures (I'd better watch out!) and Caleb did so great smiling for us! We had a blast this morning with Sweet Little Lily and her Big Brother "Super" Henry! We are overjoyed when children come to the studio and right away feel right at home! And Lily spared no article unturned, finding all of our favorite props and goodies to play with... our vintage umbrellas have been quite a hit this summer... uh, so much for not opening umbrellas inside- glad I don't believe in bad luck! :-)

We are so proud to help Jeff & Silvia announce and welcome sweet Baby Grace, just 10 days young. Grace is the sweetest little peanut, a graceful beauty, and pretty much slept right through her entire session, allowing us the ability to capture some of our favorite poses. They also brought some awesome props- including the cutest knit bunny ears hat and bunny tail bottoms, plus Jeff's fireman's gear!

We can't express enough how much easier it is to capture some of these very popular and well loved poses when the babies are very young (we prefer 2 weeks and younger). They sleep more soundly and are still used to being all curled up in the womb. We take very special care of all of our inGRACE babies and never put your baby in harms way. We are always paying very close attention and supporting the muscles in the baby's neck, never pushing a baby to do something that would make them uncomfortable. Majority of the time we have at least 2 spotters- usually Mark and "Dad" on either side (which I have to say, is a beautiful site to experience). Mom usually gets to sit back and relax, since when the baby smells Mom she/he thinks it's time to wake up and eat again. :-) We are always here to answer any questions you may have about our newborn experience.

Meet the incredible Sisneros Family!! What a beautiful family both inside and out!! We had so much fun photographing their family portrait session at the Historic Mission yesterday in downtown San Juan Capistrano. The textures and architecture of the Mission create such gorgeous backdrops, beautiful lighting, and endless possibilities. We have a fantastic special about to launch for our Fall Family Portraits so please keep your eyes peeled!!
If you are thinking about booking a session at the Mission, a few things to keep in mind with the kids heading back to school.... The Mission is open from 8:30am - 5pm daily. Booking a session during the week is great whenever possible because there are less people on the grounds, giving more flexibility for shooting locations. Also, scheduling your session as early or later in the day is best, for lighting, and also for less people. Due to the time constraints we will only be able to book a limited amount of sessions at the Mission. We encourage you to book your session as early as possible. This also gives you time and flexibility if you are thinking of using any of your images to have us create custom holiday cards for you! It might seem early to start thinking about holiday cards, but we all how quickly this time of year comes us and suddenly it's mid-December and we're thinking "What happened to 2011?" :-)

Check out these three ultra cutie patooties - Emma, Addison and Liam. Each of them have such individually unique personalities, which shined through them. However, when it came to playing with our props on their photo shoot they all chose the same props... thank goodness we had three of each of everything they chose!!! Phew! :-) They went for some fun by the train in downtown San Juan Capistrano with our vintage suitcases, vintage umbrellas and of course, pearls!! Doesn't every photo shoot need a set of pearls? Emma has the most sparkly blue eyes that are just so beautiful. And sweet Addison was very specific about what she was going the wear for the photo shoot, including her yellow scarf and hat... making sure that I did not leave out photographing her little blue rose on her favorite sweater.

You won't be able to resist this gorgeous little peanut, or his equally adorable big bro Sean! We had such a grea time yesterday at Max's newborn photography session. Loving that full head of hair!! Max did such a great job and Sean was so patient while we photographed his new little brother first. Sean and Dad got to walk around downtown San Juan Capistrano and check out the choo choo trains and then came back to snap a few photographs with Max. Both brothers were total rock stars!
We have found that what works best when photographing newborns with other children is to have big brother(s)/sister(s) go have some fun around town to stay entertained while we photograph the new arrival first. This also prevents from oh-so-sweet kiddie giggles from waking up my oh-so-sleepy newborn! :-)
FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS: When photographing newborns, make sure your studio is nice and warm for the baby. We use a small space heater, a heating pad, and also have a sound machine with a heart beat setting. Although the rest of us are usually sweating and it becomes a pony tail day for me, you will have a much happier baby. Leave additional time during your session in case the baby needs to stop for feeding and/or comforting. Keep a patient, loving, non stressfuful atmosphere in your studio. Although babies are just weeks, sometimes days old, they are highly sensitive to their surroundings. I've found that just "thinking gently" can change the mood of the room. If you have a fussy baby, be Patient. Sometimes a quick snuggle or rocking can help relax them back to sleep. But be sensitive and never push a baby to do something that could be causing them discomfort. We all want that perfect shot, but the needs of the baby must come first! But most of all, have fun and take joy in capturing these precious moments that will be past down for years to come.
It truly is a blessing!
