Mark and I had such a blast photographing the Dunning Family on the beach in Huntington!! What an incredibly beautiful family both inside and out... their souls just shine right through them. We were so glad we get in their session before Dana went back to college this past weekend!! Enjoy your Sneak Peek Dunning Family!! We got so many great images! Can't wait to show you the rest. :-)

You won't be able to resist this gorgeous little peanut, or his equally adorable big bro Sean! We had such a grea time yesterday at Max's newborn photography session. Loving that full head of hair!! Max did such a great job and Sean was so patient while we photographed his new little brother first. Sean and Dad got to walk around downtown San Juan Capistrano and check out the choo choo trains and then came back to snap a few photographs with Max. Both brothers were total rock stars!
We have found that what works best when photographing newborns with other children is to have big brother(s)/sister(s) go have some fun around town to stay entertained while we photograph the new arrival first. This also prevents from oh-so-sweet kiddie giggles from waking up my oh-so-sleepy newborn! :-)
FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS: When photographing newborns, make sure your studio is nice and warm for the baby. We use a small space heater, a heating pad, and also have a sound machine with a heart beat setting. Although the rest of us are usually sweating and it becomes a pony tail day for me, you will have a much happier baby. Leave additional time during your session in case the baby needs to stop for feeding and/or comforting. Keep a patient, loving, non stressfuful atmosphere in your studio. Although babies are just weeks, sometimes days old, they are highly sensitive to their surroundings. I've found that just "thinking gently" can change the mood of the room. If you have a fussy baby, be Patient. Sometimes a quick snuggle or rocking can help relax them back to sleep. But be sensitive and never push a baby to do something that could be causing them discomfort. We all want that perfect shot, but the needs of the baby must come first! But most of all, have fun and take joy in capturing these precious moments that will be past down for years to come.
It truly is a blessing!
Kristin

We finally got up to LA last weekend to photograph our dear friends Chey and Marisa's new addition, Baby Reyes. And he is sooooooo cute!!! with quite the little personality already, just like his daddy! :-) Reyes happens to have a very protective Big Sis/Parttime Nanny named Ruby, who ummm, also happens to be the family dog. She had to check things out first before we photographed Baby Rey and kept a good eye on us the whole time we were there, making sure we weren't up to any funny business. And poor Miss Ruby just wanted to get up and snuggle on our set so badly that at one point she dodged us and jumped up, knocking the whole thing down... LOL. She also helped to make sure Reyes' hair was all in place and that he looked good for his shots. At just 8 weeks Baby Rey showed off all his dedicated hours of tummy time by holding his head up all by himself! Yay Rey!
Chey & Maris, so good to see you both and meet sweet little Rey! We miss you and can't wait to see you in a few months when we photograph Reyes again!! I hope sooner! <3

TUMMY TIME......!!!

RUBY.... "helping"...

I can't help think he's not happy with me at this moment?

Baby Reyes: "Um, I could be napping people.... or better yet, having a tasty snack."

Baby Reyes: "Not sure I'm liking this dog yet."

The other baby...

Best spot on the planet...

LOVED working with these two cuties!!! Cammi is such the perfect model, with those big beautiful eyes. And sweet Wes had us entertained the whole time, while the trains kept him very entertained the whole time!! Cammi loves playing dress up, so it was really just about finding the perfect outfit to suite her tastes! And since Wes loves his big sister so much, he wanted to do everything the Cammi got to do! These two cutie pies even had matching blue toe nails, compliments of Cammi's beautiful polish decorating. Turns out Cammi is also a budding photographer and also captured a few pictures of me on our adventure together! We also found a lady bug along the way, which really sparked their interests. The day ended with delicious cupcakes and two sugar filled kiddies!! SO MUCH FUN!!
We photographed Cammi and Wes at our studio and on location in downtown San Juan Capistrano. All clothes compliments of Mac and Madi's Children's Boutique in San Clemente. If you haven't been to Mac & Madi's, it's well worth the trip down the Del Mar strip towards the beach. Make it a day of fun for you & a friend with a trip to the beach, followed by lunch at our favorite restaurant, Nick's and a little shopping a few doors down at Mac & Madi's.
Cammi & Wes...

Waitin' for the train.

This image was inspired by a photograph that was taken of my Great Grandfather photographing my Grandmother on the beach when she was 3 years old. His love of photography has continued down the generations to my father and on to me...

We are proud to help introducing this little sugar muffin, Ella. Had such a great time meeting and getting to know Ella, Mommy Jenny and family! Similar to a few of our other babies recently, Miss Ella seemed to know it was her big day out on the town and wanted to be awake for all of it!! Well, almost all of it. With the help of Mommy, Grandma and Aunties, we got through mulitple outfits and set changes without a single messy clean-up!! A FIRST here at inGRACE. Way to go Ella! :-) Very modest, she is indeed. We had some fun trying out some of our new props with Ella. She is also featured wearing an outfit from Mac and Madi's Unique Children's Boutique in San Clemente, where you can find some absolutely adorable clothing and accessories that are perfect for your children's portrait sessions.
Enjoy the Sneak Peek!!

We are very proud to announce that we will have 2 of our Fine Art Images on exhibit at the Orange County Fair this year! If you find yourself wandering in the Art Exhibit, keep your eye out for these 2 pieces, which will be in the Professional Photographers area of the exhibit. They will be listed under Kristin Palkoner. Both images were taken at the Orange Empire Railway Museum, which is an incredible museum that features many of the old trains and trolleys of Southern California dating back to the early 1900's. We will be frequenting the Fair this year and taking pictures for the 2011 Faces of the Fair. Please check back on the blog for some of our favorite images throughout the summer.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO AT THE FAIR??? DO YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE THE FUNNEL CAKE AND GO ON THE BUMPER CARS OR THE FERRIS WHEEL? WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! LEAVE A COMMENT IN OUR COMMENT SECTION AND WE'LL SEND YOU A $50 GIFT CERTIFICATE TOWARDS YOUR NEXT SESSION WITH US!
